Replace your fragile factory key shell with the AJT Design Injection Fob case built for 5th gen Toyota 4Runner models without push-button start and select other Toyota key applications. This rugged two-piece replacement housing is injection molded from high-strength, impact-resistant ABS plastic (black version uses PC-ABS) and upgrades the OEM snap-fit case to a screw-together design for improved strength and serviceability.

Your original key blade, electronics, battery, and transponder chip are reused, so no reprogramming is required when installed correctly — but careful component transfer is critical.

Important note

  • Instruction videos: Please watch instruction videos before purchasing
  • Vehicle fitment: 5th gen Toyota 4Runner without push-button start plus select Toyota key applications
  • Electronics not included: Existing key blade, electronics, battery, and transponder chip are reused
  • OEM shell removal: Factory case must be destroyed to extract the molded-in key blade
  • Threadlocker warning: Do not use threadlocker such as Loctite
  • Transponder risk: Damaging the chip during removal will prevent the vehicle from starting
  • Responsibility: Manufacturer is not responsible for damaged transponders during transfer

Key blade and transponder details

  • Key blade reuse: Original integrated blade is reused
  • OEM case: Must be cut or broken to remove molded key blade
  • Alternate method: Separate key can be used instead of integrated blade
  • Alternate key option: Toyota G-chip key P/N 89785-08040 can be purchased, cut, and programmed by a dealer or locksmith
  • Transponder removal: Often glued in place and may require cutting and/or heat
  • Caution: Improper removal can damage the chip and disable vehicle start

  • Fastening method: Socket head cap screws
