Acumen Camera M4 2ch Mirror Dash Cam with 4K Front and 2.5K Rear Cameras, 12"IPS Touchscreen

I’ll add some nuance here:

YotaWolf and Andy (the owner) are 5 stars all the way. They go above and beyond to make sure you get what you need and have the information to install your stuff. That’s HUGE for a beginner like me.

I have more choice words for Acumen (but I also am overall satisfied with this dashcam).

First, the good:

-It’s very easy to operate—once you have it all hooked up properly, it just runs pretty much on its own.
-You can access content via app.
-In case anyone is unclear: this doubles as a rear-view mirror not only as a video camera screen—you can switch off the screen (letting the camera still record footage) and it reflects just like a mirror. So it’s an extra large rear view mirror and dashcam combined! That’s pretty sweet if you ask me.

My feedback for Acumen:
-Their instructions are written poorly, in broken English and are confusing/misleading regarding the wiring. The instructions themselves state that fuse tapping the accessory wire into the fuse box can cause damage. When I spoke with one of their support agents, she directly confirmed nothing would be damaged. So they’re inconsistent about their installation info.
-Their installation videos reflect steps that aren’t clearly detailed by included instructions in any way: for example, they instruct you in their videos to take apart your console and t-tap the accessory wire into the literal cigarette lighter power. But to do this, you need a lot of extra accessory wire (likely a butt splice or similar) so that it will reach. The hardwiring kit does not come ready to do the very thing the video instructs.

Further, you CAN safely fuse tap accessory into the cabin fuse box.

-Finally, there is a red power wire as part of the rear camera and there are zero details in either the written instructions OR the online installation videos as to what you’re supposed to do with this. Andy had to explain it to me.

So. Andy = great. Acumen product = good. Acumen UX and support = messy, chaotic, frustrating.
